Here, in a young couples refuge that will soon welcome a child, we find all the gentle magic of a more natural way of life.

The living area: right, a particularly interesting detail, with a wall in bare-concrete resin incorporating a bespoke wall cabinet in flamed walnut. Recessed lighting by Davide Groppi. All aspects of the interior space, from surface materials to accessories, curated by Zenucchi Design Code (Luzzana, near Bergamo).  Here, in a young couple’s “refuge” that will soon welcome a child, we find all the gentle magic of a more “natural” way of life. There is no lack of “design”, but what is more striking is the atmosphere that the team at Zenucchi has been able to create. As one team member says, “We designed and realised every aspect of the interior, supplying everything from the surface materials to the accessories, and basing everything on the needs of the couple themselves, to create a sense of the home and of a lifestyle that fitted their personal tastes and preferences.” A young couple – she is American, he is from Brescia – who love to travel, who are used to being on the move and who often find themselves working far from home. “For them, the perfect home would be comfortable,” the designer adds, “with everything they needed for family life but not neglecting to include more stylistic touches.” Of which there are plenty. In the day area, we are welcomed by a wonderful extra-large sofa lounger, which faces a splendid architectural feature, a wall in unfinished concrete-resin incorporating a bespoke television cabinet in flamed walnut. A warmer touch is provided by two rugs, one in Mongolian wool, the other hand-painted, while the unmistakeable lines of a Vitra armchair and two Le Corbusier low tables offer a little designer flair. The house extends over a single floor, with the kitchen and dining area adjacent to the living area. Here, the visual language pairs wood with concrete, creating a more contemporary feel. Next, we come to the sleeping area. Again, wood takes a leading role, with bespoke solutions by Zenucchi such as the wall-cum-headboard, with its cladding of Italian walnut, and the stone-finished wall in the bathroom. There are some delicious designer details here, too, from the Agape bathroom to the nubuck-upholstered bed base by Radaelli. All of the interiors have been specially designed by the Zenucchi team, with carefully selected details giving the home character, giving it soul.

...an oasis of wellbeing.

The undisputed star in the living room is the huge sofa-lounger (Redaelli, You and Me island model). The supporting cast includes patterned cushions, a gloss-finished, earth-coloured console table, and a Minotti fabric pouffe. The lamp is a Glo Ball model by Flos. Le Corbusier tabourets by Cassina serve as low tables (interior design by Zenucchi Design Code).
Below: the hallway is accessed via a splendid pivot door with an iron handle and the same resin surface as the wall. It was made to order by Zenucchi Design Code.

Here, we are in the kitchen area: the kitchen is by Varenna (Artex collection) with a matt, light-grey lacquer finish that matches the walls. The recessed lighting and projecting spotlights are by Davide Groppi.
The kitchen also features design components, such as brass pendant lights by Henge, and the black plastic Eames chairs by Vitra. Note the smart, automated roller blinds by Mycore (interior design by Zenucchi Design Code).

More precious details in the double bedroom, starting with the walnut-faced wall-headboard at the head of the bed. The Toccami reading lamps are by Viabizzuno. The stone-topped bedside tables, with their aged brass tubing frames, are by Henge. The Redaelli Newport bed base is upholstered in nubuck (interior design by Zenucchi Design Code).

An oasis of well-being: the bathroom – accessed from the double bedroom via a sliding door that is painted to match the wall – is by Agape.
The ceiling lighting is by Davide Groppi, while the LED light above the mirror is by Viabizzuno. All items supplied by Zenucchi Design Code.
